Miguel had a passion for life and helping others overcome adversity. When asked how his day was going, he’d answer, “ Pure Joy”, especially when nothing was really going well! His humble beginnings inspired his optimistic perspective. An immigrant who fled political turmoil, he let his obstacles serve as motivation. He lived by his mantra: “Don’t sweat the small stuff!”
Miguel was a magnetic role model to everyone around him. His work ethic and commitment to joy made his light shine brighter than the sun. However, his unwavering optimism ceased after enduring multiple medical traumas between 2019-2021, causing severe depression , which took his life on August 20, 2024. He died feeling hopeless, abandoned by God and fearing that he burdened his family.
Miguel’s joy and love of life are missing from our lives, and although he could no longer see his worth, we must carry his light forward.
Today, I walk in the Walk for Hope to honor Miguel’s memory, carry his light forward, and help create a future where other families may not have to endure the same struggle.
